Conservatives are kicked off of Facebook on a daily basis because the social media giant claims they are spreading “fake news.” In reality, these conservatives are getting the boot because they are telling a truth that is inconvenient to the bogus liberal narrative.
Meanwhile, mainstream media outlets like CNN do nothing but push falsehoods. The Clown News Network just attacked President Donald Trump’s effort to enforce immigration laws that are already on the books with a demonstrable lie. As of this writing, CNN still maintains a presence on Facebook.
Here is a tweet that CNN sent out to alarm liberals that President Trump is upholding his duty to enforce the law:
This year saw the most people in ICE detention since 2001 https://t.co/jxoWOYIV7V pic.twitter.com/Lel4j67uRY
— CNN Politics (@CNNPolitics) November 12, 2018
As you can see, CNN is claiming that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has detained more illegal immigrants this year than since 2001. The point of this inflammatory headline is to outrage liberals that Trump is a racist xenophobe for detaining so many poor immigrants who only want a better life.
That’s completely untrue, but hardly the biggest lie in the headline. ICE didn’t exist in 2001, the agency was formed in 2003. How is it even possible that ICE was detaining illegal immigrants in the two years before it existed?
Following the link to CNN’s article doesn’t make this lie any better as they double down on this load of crap:
Immigration authorities have detained a record number of undocumented immigrants this past year, according to data obtained from Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
ICE held an average of more than 42,000 people in custody each day throughout fiscal year 2018. The previous record high since ICE began tracking the data in 2001 was just over 38,000 last year.
ICE didn’t begin tracking data in 2001 because, as was already mentioned, the agency didn’t exist until 2003. In fact, here’s a history lesson from ICE’s website:
In March 2003, the Homeland Security Act set into motion what would be the single-largest government reorganization since the creation of the Department of Defense. One of the agencies in the new Department of Homeland Security was the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, now known as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE.
This fake news managed to get even faker because CNN quoted a Daily Beast article which states: “ICE, which was not formally created until 2003…”
Then CNN was forced to run this crazy correction: “This story has been updated to clarify that ICE was created in 2003…”
Yet clearly the article hasn’t been updated to clarify that because it still reads that ICE was detaining illegal immigrants 2 years before the agency existed. Not only is this fake news, but it’s also seriously bad journalism.
This article is credited to Geneva Sands, who would be fired on the spot for even attempting to turn this garbage in at any credible news outlet. Whatever school she got her journalism degree from should consider revoking it. She’s an embarrassment.
Also, if any conservative site tried to push a story this factually challenged on Facebook, they would get flagged, suspended, and eventually banned from the social media platform. For some reason, CNN gets a free pass.
What makes this fake news and crap journalism truly pathetic is this: Even if ICE existed in 2001 and detained more people this year since then, so what? That’s literally their job. It’s not like ICE is arresting random people, they are detaining illegal immigrants, who, as the name would indicate, are breaking the law by being in this country illegally.
CNN is using this lie to portray President Donald Trump as some kind of tyrant who is jailing innocent people when all he’s doing is enforcing the existing law.
CNN gets very upset when President Trump calls them “fake news.” They could hit him back by actually reporting the facts, but their response is to attack the President with even more fake news. It’s certainly a bold strategy to defend their integrity by posting easily fact-checked lies, but so far all it has achieved is low credibility and even lower ratings.
